how many times i have been this girl.
I've traveled alone for 95% of my traveling career and when I do travel with others, I usually meet up with them at our destination. There is nothing like the anticipation of landing in a new city after a long flight. I love the colours outside the window in this picture. To me, it just represents all of the possibilities and exciting adventures and experiences that take place at the other end of a plane ride. It is magical.
I miss traveling. Last year I visited 5 countries. We are six months into this year and I've been Dubai-side for the entire time. I think that's a record for me. I am going a bit stir-crazy. Also, I just started a new job, so it makes traveling difficult.
I would like to go to Asia next. Maybe Thailand. Maybe the Phillipines. Or ya never know, Canada just might be my next destination. I need some Swiss Chalet pkg's anyway.

Put Your Hands Up for Dubai - I Love This City!
Well.... I LIKE this city. I don't know if I would go as far as LOVE but.... it is definitely "home" for me now. Here are two pictures I took yesterday from my Dad's office building.

Reasons I Like Dubai:
1) My Dad lives here.
2) The sun is shining 98 % of the time.
4) Best shopping in the world.
5) People from all walks of life.
6) Great lifestyle for "westerners"
7) Makes me appreciate and take pride in my Canadian heritage even more so than before.
I could name a billion reasons why I don't like Dubai but I think I am far too cynical for my own good, so I will end on that note! Enjoy the pics!

Travellin' Soldier
Siiigghh... my blogger friends, I haven't been in touch as much as I'd like to be. For two main reasons #1) I've been travelling (Holland last week and Ireland three weeks from now) and #2) I've been dealing with some difficult emotions and crap... I won't go into detail here because I prefer not to use this forum as a diary (no hate on those who do, to each their own) but let's just say I feel very much at a crossroads in my life. To sum it up, I'll leave you with the following (no offense intended for those who are not potty mouth prone :)

I need...
... to break out of my shell of only taking pictures of dogs and babies. The only problem is, my life revolves around dogs and babies! I am only 6 weeks away from freedom tho... which is exciting and terrifying.... Anyway, here are some pics that I've taken lately that do not involve dogs, OR babies!
Here is a picture that was taken in my neighbourhood... just weird to see portraits of arab men and women just sitting outside of a building! I wonder if they are leaders of a certain country or just family members... anyway, just one of the many strange things Dubai has to offer!

Here is a pic taken from our balcony of the Burj Dubai at sunset... the Sun is seriously HUGE in the middle east.. like 3 times the size it is in Canada or the US... the burj Dubai... oops, my bad, the Burj Khalifa as they've renamed it, is about 20 km from our house... YA, it's that tall.

I went to Jordan for a friend's wedding and it was gorgeous... the weather was like heaven and the scenery was definitely something to see! All the men were perverts tho... anyway, here is the dead sea, which you really do float in... ps - if you ever go, don't drink the water or get it in your eyes... i did and almost went blind.

My life the past eight years... "anywhere but here"...

sigh... I am grateful to be where I am, to do the things I've done and to see the extraordinary things I've seen. but to be honest... at times, it gets a little old and every now and then I feel a twinge of the need for a "home". Siiiiggghhh... I am way emotional tonight, so let's end it there!
